This article offers a rereading of Guy De- bord’s film La Société du Spectacle (1973-1974), highlighting the theoretical core and devices used by the author in his lucid critique of capitalism as well as the Soviet system. The technique of détournement, in particular, moves from (non-)linguistic quotations to the re-use of already significant images in order to decontextualise and re-signify them.
