The essay focuses on the signifying correlation between visual, haptic and sound in the work of Studio Azzurro in the first half of the 1990s, a crucial phase in the transition from the video installation environments of the 1980s to the interactive Sensitive Environments. The core of the analysis is the recurring presence of the hand emerging from the darkness, articulating gestures that activate narratives and empathic imaginative processes: a presence that is not purely iconographic and symbolic but plays a role in the redefinition of the identity of the video screen.
